Dentist - Indianapolis | Allison Run Office Park | 5511 E. 82nd St, Suite F | Indianapolis, IN 46250
Our team of extraordinary dental professionals were all carefully chosen and very well trained so that they perfectly compliment Dr. Nicewander. Each person goes above and beyond what is expected of them to make sure our patients feel welcomes, comfortable and cared for. The friendships and bonds that are created are certainly part of the reason our patients keep coming back to see us.
Jack Nicewander DDS
Dr. Jack has enjoyed dentistry and the relationships he's built with his patients for over 30 years. He was born and raised in the Castleton area, so it was no surprise that he chose this area to set up practice when he graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1977. What sets him apart from his colleagues is his desire to treat every patient as he would his own family or cherished friend. With warmth, sincerity, honesty and integrity, he has built a legacy that will be remembered long after he retires from dentistry.
A doctor's education should never stop, so Dr. Jack makes it a point to keep up-to-date through countless continuing educations courses and every-day experience. He takes great pride in being able to offer patients choices that include technology of the highest quality in an environment that is fun, friendly and inviting. He sounds too good to be true, but once you meet him, you'll understand why his patients and staff have been loyal to him for so many years.
Behind every good man is a great woman, and Dr. Jack's wife, Carol, is no exception. Together, they have raised two beautiful daughters, Kari and Julie. Kari currently resides in St. Louis while her husband, Scott Kuper, studies to be a chiropractor. Kari works for an advertising agency and they plan to move back to the Indianapolis area when Scott graduates. Julie resides in Chicago and works for Junior Achievement. Both girls are Indiana University graduates.
Dr. Jack is a regular at Lifetime Fitness and I.U. football games. He enjoys cycling and dabbling in golf. He and Carol spend a lot of time relaxing on their deck at home or at their lake cabin in Brown County. They also enjoy traveling with family and friends.

I have had the great pleasure of being a part of Dr. Jack's team for more than 20 years and I look forward to spending another 10 or 15 more with him! Not many people can say that they truly love going to work everyday, but I am one of them! Sure, there have been moments that have been challenging, but seeing the smiling faces that come into our office every day makes everything worthwhile. I so much enjoy getting to know our patients and the relationships I've made over the years are priceless. I have learned that our patients like continuity and familiar faces when they walk in the door, and I plan to be that face for as long as Dr. Jack keeps me around!
As much as I love my job, my family still comes first! I've been married to my husband, Dan, for over 31 years. We've built an awesome life together and are now officially empty-nesters, with both of our children grown and married. Our son, Blake, is a journeyman electrician for Barth. He is married to Kim and together they have given us 3 of our beautiful grandkids. Dallas is 5, Wyatt is 3 and our only grand daughter, Isabella, is almost 2. Our daughter, Abbey, is married her college sweetheart, Will Bolden. They recently became first-time parents to our 4th grandchild, Carter West. The grandkids have put a whole new dimension on things and enriched our lives in ways we never knew were possible! As a family, we love spending time together, whether it is on our boat at Lake Cumberland, enjoying a meal, playing outside, or watching the Colts win.
I look forward to seeing all of you at your next visit. If you need anything or have a question before then, you know where to find me!
Anette Brown, Expanded Dental Assistant
Hello! I'm your friendly dental assistant! I graduated from Walker Career Center in 1989 and went to South Bend Dental Arts to practice expanded duties. I really enjoy helping my patients create beautiful smiles. This career has allowed me to keep in touch with my artistic side, because smile design is definitely an art. I have been helping Dr. Jack put smiles on patients' faces for over 16 years. Together, we have made a lot of people very happy and confident with their new dental makeovers. One day, I'd love to have given every single patient in our practice the beautiful smile they deserve! Our office has become a second home to me and my co-workers and patients are like a second family, whom I love seeing every day.
My job keeps me very busy, but my home life keeps me hopping! My real family consists of my husband Rick, and our 6 children. We have four girls in the house; Haley is 15, Aubrielle is 13, Carlienna is 12 and Lauren is 11. Add in to the mix our two boys, Jeston, age 10 and Shanye, age 9, and you've got one happy, hectic home! Dare I even mention our two, sweet Shitzu dogs, Gizzy and Sissy? Our family enjoys the outdoors; camping, fishing and motorcycling. The kids are involved in school sports and other activities just enough to keep transporting them all very interesting!
Mary Clegg, Expanded Dental Assistant
I joined Dr. Nicewander as a Certified and Expanded Dental Assistant five years ago. I graduated from the University of Louisville, which is where I'm from and most of my family still lives. I always new I wanted to be in the medical profession, but didn't decide on the dental field until my second year of college and I'm so glad I was led in this direction. I take great pride in providing the best patient care possible and knowing that I helped to restore a patient to their optimal dental health is so rewarding for me. The dental field is ever changing and my job is a continual learning process. The technology and practices are always advancing and we strive to keep at the top of the field by taking advanced courses and attending seminars on a regular basis. One of the best things about being in Dr. Jack's office is getting to meet our great patients. You are all so nice and interesting and I enjoy spending time with you - even though my hands are in your mouth most of the time!
I moved to the Indianapolis area about 14 years ago. I have two daughters who have grown into beautiful young women and become my best friends. Sarah is 24 and is expecting my first grandson in January! We are so excited and anxiously awaiting his arrival. Allison is 22 and is studying to become a geologist. We all enjoy spending time together- shopping, going out to dinner and White Water rafting on our annual trips to West Virginia.
Jennifer Crane, Dental Hygienist
Hi, I'm Jennifer and I've been a dental hygienist for 20 years. Nine years ago I was lucky enough to be a substitute hygienist for Dr. Nicewander and knew I had found my home dental office. I feel very privileged to work with a team that not only impress me with their talents, but have become my dear friends.
I grew up in Bedford, where all of my family still lives. Early on I knew I wanted a career in health care, and was fortunate to be guided towards dental hygiene. A few years ago I completed my Public Health degree primarily to open up the opportunity to teach at the dental school. Clinical dental hygiene is my preference since I love working with each patient and helping them with their individual needs. Helping someone get the healthy smile they want and deserve is very rewarding.
As for my free time, I enjoy keeping active biking, hiking, gardening, cheering on the Colts with friends and traveling. The rest of the time is spent with my two loves, Lucy and Matty, my Cairn Terriers.
I look forward to seeing and working with all of you for years to come.
Kasey Rundle, Dental Hygienist
Hi, I'm Kasey Rundle. I have been a full-time dental hygienist for Dr. Nicewander since 2008 and worked part-time for a few years prior to that. I graduated from Indiana-Purdue University of Fort Wayne in 2002. Being a dental hygienist allows me to help people maintain a beautiful smile. More importantly, I am able to make a difference in people's health. A healthy mouth equals a healthy body. Convincing someone of the importance of daily flossing is very rewarding. I enjoy when patients tell me they have been flossing daily and they are able to see the difference it makes in their own mouth; less bleeding, and it doesn't really hurt to floss when your gums are healthy. Dr. Jack is a great doctor to work for and I am so thankful to be a part of his team. I enjoy the "family-like" feel our office has with our patients. We want all of our patients to feel welcome and know that they are getting the best care possible.
If I am not at work, you will find me at the gym or at the horse barn. I enjoy teaching Turbo Kick classes in the evenings and am working towards being a certified personal trainer. My family consists of my husband, Bill, two horses, and our dogs, Kiwi and Bentley. They are our "babies" for now.
Katerina Joseph, Dental Hygienist
I came to Indianapolis from Riga, Latvia in 1998 with a Bachelors degree in business. I had no knowledge of the dental hygiene profession since preventive dentistry did not exist in my native country (I had never even seen dental floss until I moved to the U.S. at age 21). Dentistry, to me, was always associated with pain and suffering, since regular check ups and cleaning were not done and anesthesia was not used. Needless to say, I accumulated a multitude of dental issues by the time I got here. With the help of some exceptional dental care that I received upon coming to Indianapolis, I was able to get my teeth and gums healthy. Additionally, I learned how to maintain my oral health by proper home care and regular cleanings. Through all the negative experiences I suffered, I learned how important preventive care was and decided to dedicate four years of my life to studying dental hygiene and learning how to instill its' importance upon others. Therefore, I never take prevention for granted. I always take pride in my work and will take the time necessary to educate my patients on ways to help them stay healthy for life. I believe: "If you want to feed a person for one day, give him fish; but if you want to feed him for life, teach him how to fish". It is such a great feeling to know you serve a purpose and improve someone's life on a daily basis! I can truly say that I look forward to seeing my patients and taking care of them every day I come to work.
I recently just purchased my first home and have been having so much fun making it my own! I appreciate art and music and have created some of my own art pieces. My mother still lives in Latvia, but visits me whenever she can and I have a sister who lives in Arizona. Although I have no family close by, I have many friends in Indianapolis who have become my surrogate family and we enjoy spending with each other.
